It’s funny to be sitting here working on blog posts about autumnal photos when I’ve just put up the Christmas tree while singing some carols (“Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey” is still a favourite!) and had some egg nog, but that’s what it’s like when there’s a backlog!

Matt and Ashley had just hired me to do their wedding photos next summer (and have since proven to be a great couple to work with, as seen in their own blog post), so I was delighted when Matt called and asked if I would be available to do some family photos following his parents’ vow renewal ceremony (in celebration of 32 years of marriage, no less) that they were doing down at the Rotary gazebo.

;

Now, I’m a big fan of marriage. Anyone who has talked to me about the subject knows I value the vows. So of course I was excited about being a surprise guest for a couple celebrating 32 years together.

;

It was a simple but lovely ceremony that emphasized the importance of commitment. Ian and Sandra dressed up for the occasion, as did the other members of both the Buxton and Herrington families, which added a classy touch to the family photos later on. The rain held off for us and we were able to take advantage of the fall colours for some great shots of two families.

It was a great little perk to be able to meet and work with both sides of the family before Matt and Ash’s wedding, too. Roll on next summer – we’re going to have some fun!
